Founded in 2006, FRANSABANK El Djazaïr spa is the first Lebanese bank to set-up operations in Algeria. FRANSABANK El Djazaïr became operational in October 2006 with a Paid-up Capital of DZD 2.5 billion (c/v US$ 35 million). FRANSABANK SAL participation in the Bank’s capital is of 68%, at the sides of CMA CGM Group (25%), the world’s third largest container shipping company, and MAGHREB TRUCK COMPANY (7%), which is owned by the SALHI Group, a well-known Algerian family.

Overview
FRANSABANK Syria SA was awarded a license to open a bank in Syria in May 2007. Its capital is US$ 38.5 million, 64% of which is held by its founding shareholders, Fransabank s.a.l (48%), Mr Adel Kassar (1%), the Saadé family (10%) and Dr Ahmad Chehabi (5%), the remaining 34% are held by shareholders who subscribed in Fransabank Syria SA through a very successful Initial Public Offering that took place between February 10th and March 13th 2008.
Services
Fransabank Syria SA is expected to start operations in the second half of 2008. The bank will be a full-fledged bank with a focus on SMEs, Corporate and Retail. Fransabank Syria SA will also capitalize on the competitive edge and know-how it has accumulated in electronic banking and in the cards business.
