FRANSABANK participated in the International Conference on involving private investors in the ‘Horizon 2020’ initiative on the depollution of the Mediterranean, which took place in Athens/ Greece during last October. Horizon 2020 initiative was launched in November 2005 during the Euro-Mediterranean summit and aims to endorse a feasible timetable to de-pollute the Mediterranean Sea by 2020. The conference thus gathered key players in the initiative to explore the ways to involve the private sector, targeting mainly private investment banks, venture capital, sustainable investment funds, pension funds, as well as entities in the waste management sector. The conference was attended by representatives of key international organizations, NGOs and governmental bodies including World Bank, UNEP-MAP, European Investment Bank (EIB), EU Commission, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, and representatives of other governments and private sector companies concerned. FRANSABANK had an effective participation within the conference represented by its HR Director Dr. Nicolas Khairallah. He cited FRANSABANK as a pioneering example in the field of Environmental Risk Management (ERM) at local banks, explaining the different phases that FRANSABANK has set to adapt a full-fledged ERM strategic plan.
