The Banker’s list of Top 1000 International Banks issued in July 2000 included, for the first time, the name of FRANSABANK where it was ranked 920 th with respect to its financial strength as measured by Tier I Capital which totaled USD 168 million in 1999. FRANSABANK also ranked 832 nd as regards its size measured by total assets, 522 nd as regards its healthy performance measured by the ratio of capital to assets or capitalization, 112 th as regards its overall performance as measured by the ratio of pretax profit to average capital, and 223 rd with respect to the return on total assets. Another study conducted by the Union of Arab Banks on the Top 100 Arab Banks in August 2000 revealed that FRANSABANK progressed from the 58 th position to the 53 rd wit respect to its assets.
