FRANSABANK achieved further progress in its ranking among the international banking sector, by moving from the 920 th position in 1999 to the 828 th in 2000. This was revealed in ‘The Banker’s’ annual survey in July 2001, which contains the ranking to Top 1000 International Banks in terms of Tier 1 Capital. FRANSABANK’s capital increases by 41.6% to USD 193 million in 2000. The Bank’s ranking was 61 in terms of Tier 1 Capital among the group of Arab banks (72 banks) in the list of Top 1000 International Banks. As regards the size, FRANSABANK ranked 791, where its assets grew by 11.2% between 1999 and 2000 to reach USD 2,942 million. The Bank also achieved further progress in its capitalization ranking, whereby it moved to the 484 position in 2000 from the 522 nd position in 1999. Its ratio of capital to assets increased from 5.16% in 1999 to 6.57% in 2000. In addition, FRANSABANK ranked 221, among the international banks in terms of return on assets which totaled 1.39% in 2000. the Bank joined the group of international banks which recorded an internationally accepted rates for cost to income (39.26%), and the group of banks with high capital adequacy (19.24%) which is 2.4 times more than the Basle I and BIS standards.
