FRANSABANK advances 9 grades in the list of international banks for the year 2002 according to Banker Magazine
FRANSABANK advanced in its position from the 802nd to 793 rd in the list of international banks for 2002, in terms of financial strength as measured by Tier-1 Capital, which totaled USD244 million. This advancement in FRANSABANK’s international ranking was manifested in “The Banker” annual survey in its July 2003 issue, which contains the list of Top 1000 International Banks in terms of financial strength. The survey revealed that FRANSABANK has maintained its 792 nd rank between 2001 and 2002 among the top 1000 international banks in terms of size as measured by total assets which reached USD3421 million in 2002. Also, the bank was in the 400 th position in 2002 up from 428th position in 2001, in terms of banking soundness as measured by the ratio of capital to total assets 7.14% in 2002. The survey also revealed that FRANSABANK was in the 343 rd position in 2002 in terms of overall performance as measured by the ratio of profit to average capital 19.1%, and 355 th in terms of the return on assets 1.3%. It indicated that FRANSABANK enjoys a low cost-to-income among Arab banks which was 44.81% in 2002, and a high Basel-calculated capital adequacy ratio of 23.21%. It indicated that the Bank achieved robust financial strength growth by 11.8% during 2002, with assets growth standing at 10%, improvement in banking soundness from 7.03% to 7.14% and by 28 points in position.
