FRANSABANK achieves a 12.2% growth in 2000  
FRANSABANK has continued its robust growth during 2000 as in the previous years, whereby it achieved a remarkable expansion in its activity and realized net profit. Unaudited financial statements for 2000 point out that the Bank succeeded in achieving a growth of 12.2% in its total assets relative to 1999, and also net profit of LBP 51.5 billion in 2000. The Bank’s deposit base increased remarkably by 16% relative to 1999 to reach LBP 3.6 trillion in 2000. FRANSABANK’s credit and loan portfolio grew by 1.6% in 2000 to reach LBP 1.1 trillion, thus constituting around 30.6% of total deposits. The Bank has continued to proceed of building up its private funds to support further growth. Tier I Capital or shareholders equity jumped by 21.7% relative to 1999 to reach LBP 254 billion in 2000. This pushed up its capitalization ratio to 5.7% in 2000 relative to 5.2% in 1999. FRANSABANK's return on equity was 20.3% and its return on assets 1.2% in 2000.
