Environment
“Caring for our environment is the way we mentally look at the world around us. It is how we view our environment and our future. It is the focus we develop toward life itself.” (Marie Curie)
Beirut's Public Park
The biggest public park in Beirut, 40,000 square meters in size, was almost completely destroyed during the 17-year civil war in Lebanon. The French government has undertaken its reconstruction and the replanting of its Pine and other trees. With the aim of protecting the newly planted trees and flowers, FRANSABANK has donated all the needed resources to build an iron fence 2 meters high and 800 meters long with 6 gates. This public park will also be used for social, cultural and artistic activities.
Building of Gardens in Main Cities One of FRANSABANK's major efforts to beautify the cities of Lebanon is its maintenance of a garden in the main traffic circle of Zahle (Bekaa area) and in Marjeyoun (South of Lebanon).
Tree Planting
FRANSABANK supports the efforts of non-governmental organizations in Lebanon to plant trees on streets and roads. FRANSABANK sponsored the Hamra Festival, which, among its benefits, was the planting of trees on both sides of this major street in Beirut.
Contributions to the Council for Environmental and Cultural Protection FRANSABANK makes contributions to this association in supporting their work to protect Lebanon's unique and jeopardized natural forests and other environmental endeavors.
Promotion of the Use of Recycled Materials
FRANSABANK encourages the use of recycled paper amongst its employees and business partners and preaches this by example. It has been praised for the publication of its annual report and business cards on recycled paper.
Promotion of Environmental Best Practices Through its Operations FRANSABANK lending policy for project finance calls for strict adherence to World Bank standards concerning environmental and labor safety.
