Adnan Kassar is the Chairman and major shareholder of Fransabank SAL, Chairman of Fransa Holding (Lebanon) SAL and founder and co-owner of A. A. Kassar SAL, a leading trading company headquartered in Beirut.
Born in Beirut and holder of a License of Law in 1951 from Faculty of Law, Université Saint Joseph, Beirut / Lebanon, affiliated to Faculty of Law of Université de Lyon (France). Adnan Kassar was the first Arab personality to head in 1999 the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) based in Paris and present in over 140 countries for a 2 -year term.
Today, he is the Chairman of the General Union of Arab Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture. His election in this prestigious and leading role for several terms came as a distinguished recognition for his continued contribution to the promotion of inter-Arab trade and investment and the establishment and development of the private sector in the Arab world. His diligent efforts have contributed to the creation of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area which will serve as a prelude for the establishment of the Arab Common Market.
Adnan Kassar occupied for over thirty years the position of President of the Beirut Chamber of Commerce and Industry and successfully established the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Lebanon.
A major industrial and real estate investor, Adnan Kassar served a lifetime dynamism and innovation in the economical world, locally and internationally, besides his seasoned role as a politician.
He was appointed as Minister of Economy and Trade of the Republic of Lebanon in 2004 and 2005, and Minister of State in the Government of H.E. Prime Minister Saad Hariri from 2009 to 2011.
